As part of the Anniversary Weekend activities on 2nd August I'm organising a Sydney Harbour Ferry Hop along the same lines as ferry hops I've done in previous years, but visiting some different spots. We'll be covering a fair bit of ground and for most people the best thing to do is get a daytripper ticket for $16 (slightly more than the cost of 3 ferry trips). Note that the daytripper ticket covers all train, bus and ferry travel for the day so you can even use it for transport to and from your home to join in the hop. The proposed itinerary is as follows: Arrive at Circular Quay at 8:15 am for an 8:25 am departure Ferry to Cremorne Point Wander around there for about 20 minutes Return to Circular Quay at 9:10 (sleepy heads can meet us then to continue the trip) Walk from Circular Quay to Commisioner's steps (near MCA) FREE ferry to Cockatoo Island Check out the Biennale of Sydney on Cockatoo island Wander around the island and exhibits for about an hour Back to Circular Quay then off to Balmain East spend around 20 minutes there Return to circular Quay for lunch After lunch we'll do a round trip to Manly Return to Circular Quay then off home to tidy up for the AW dinner that night
Depending on how we go along the way we'll finish either 2:15 or 3:15 pm As those who've done this before can attest it's a fun day - photo ops abound both on shore and on board the ferries. If you're interested in attending please indicate your interest by posting below so I can get an idea of numbers.

Wow Peter, That itinerary looks fantastic.
Sadly I will be unable to attend, but to anyone who hasn't done a ferry hop before, (and to those that have too) this is always fun and with Peter organising it, VERY well organised!

 Peter,
I would love to come again but can't afford the whole day and the evening, too. I do know it will be well organised and you'll show the others how to read a ferry timetable.

Sorry guys I have to bow out at this stage. I have a shoot in the morning, a favour to a friend, then I am going to head up to palm beach with a few friends, hoepfully to get some good sunset/sunrise photos.
I look forward to seeing the photos from the ferry hop!

But 17 degrees, so on the ferries in the wind that will feel colder, so first timers, bring a jacket or a jumper!

Well thanks again to Stubbsy for organising another great Ferry Hop, and possibly unearthing one of the best photographic gems of a location in Sydney.... but if you didn't go, you won't know where! Seriously it was a great day out, even on 4 hours sleep and great company as usual, even if numbers were a little down! Regardless it was a great way to celebrate the 4th B'day of the forum. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DSLRUSERS!

A big thank you to Commandant Hat Hair (aka Stubbsy). A truly great day out. And yes I agree. We discovered one of the GREAT photo locations in Sydney - and you can camp there! I think I smell an overnight minimeet coming up soon
Will post some pics when I gat a reliable connection.

A few quick images from the unbelievably well organised Stubbsy Ferry Hop. If you haven't been on one before I can recommend them, extremely well organised and always well reconnoitred so there are interesting places along the way.
