Was just thinking [dangerous i know ] about the themed challenge that Manta ran a while ago and how much fun it was shooting for a theme but i thought i'd try something a little different purely for fun. The idea is to start this challenge at 5PM last working day of the week [usually friday] and close it at 8AM the next working day [usually monday] but long weekends can change those actual days. the aim is to pick 4 themes and everyone who wants to have a go at them can post up their 4 pics in the image section by midnight after the closing time and put a link from their thread into this thread. Any DSLRusers Member who cares to can then vote for their favorite on the four themes and post up in this thread with any comments if they care to make them. My votes are: Theme 1:Coffee ... Theme 2:Chimney ... Theme 3:Historic ... Theme 4:Landscape ... Voting lasts for 48 hours then i will tally up the votes and post up here. If you win ... you get nothing but praise. If you cheat ... you get nothing but Karma. You cannot vote for your own pics. Rules: Pic must be taken in the Challenge Period by the entrant. Any PP is allowed as the voters will say what is too much Pic 800 on longest side. So if Gary has no objections we will start it this afternoon at 5PM 25-01-08 and close it at 8AM tuesday 29-01-08. Pics to be entered by 12 midnight 29-01-08 voteing to be from 12 midnight 29-01-08 to 12 midnight 31-01-08 Don't forget ... its just for fun so even if you didn't get a fantastic pic for a theme ... post it up anyway if it turns out ok we might do more Weekenders with a bit more notice.Last edited by Big Red on Mon Feb 04, 2008 6:54 pm, edited 2 times in total.

No objections from me Shane. Great idea. Ladies and gentlemen, start your cameras, please! if it turns out ok we might do more Weekenders with a bit more notice.

Great idea - what’s the theme for this weekend, or is it any of the four? Chris--------------------------------

The Idea was to try for all four themes but if you can't do all of them i suppose it doesn't matter as they will be voted on in separate themes anyway. you could always stick a straw in a coffee in an old cup and take a pic of it sitting in the back yard and enter it in all 4 themes

Three down - one to go. It's the coffee one that has me stumped - might end up with a pic of coffee cup if I can't think of anything more creative!!

I missed this thread until now but have had a look at the entries and give my vote to the "Second Crack" by Bob G. CraigLifes journey is not to arrive at our grave in a well preserved body but, rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting, "Wow what a ride."

Suggestion - open up each thread in another window and copy the url from the browser window in. PHP BB3 looks to be truncating the URL down like in my post above..... but in the original post I put in the full

I'd love to keep it fresh somehow by only accepting images taken over the weekend. I will admit that one of mine was from the weekend prior, and I felt a bit cheap for it. I think it is exciting to be forced to work with what you have at your disposal. Dan The Batch Automator

 Shane
Love the 'pick it out of the hat' idea for the theme/s and keeping entries to those photos taken over that weekend - makes it an even playing field for everyone then.

Looking forward to the next one

hold out your hand ... we all have to slap your wrist the first rule was the pic has to be taken in the challenge period by the entrant now go sit in the corner while we think of a suitable punishment [might make you Bindii's slave for a whole weekend ]
