Sorry about the lateness of this, but ....
 Anyhow ...
This week's PotW is from MattyO, and it's the first image from this thread .
Shooting motorsports in the wet is not an easy task. Lower light levels make stopping the action an even greater challenge than it normally would be, and duller conditions, while somewhat helpful towards even exposure, can also work against you in terms of brightness and contrast.
But looking at this image of Matty's, you wouldn't know any of that. Great colours, contrast, exposure, and the action speaks for itself.
Congratulations, MattyO, and well done.g.Gary Stark

Great Shot Matt. Well deserved POTW.
My only question is how do these guys stay on their bikes in those conditions anyway?

 Cheers

Well done! It was a great series that was posted, and good to see a sports image get selected. Might even be the first? 2x D700, 2x D2h, lenses, speedlights, studio, pelican cases, tripods, monopods, patridges, pear trees etc etc http://www.awbphotos.com.au

 No.
There's been several in the past: bmx, kids' footy, skateboarding are a few I can recall off the top of my head.

Wow, im honored to win this. I didn't think pictures like these really even got considered.
Thank you Gary and thank you to everyone else for you kind comments.
The exif data on that shot was
 D200, 70-200 2.8 + 1.4x tele @ ISO800 f/5 1/320s
http://moment.autodeist.com/smcrc-003.jpg here is a link to a larger version - 1200x800
The D200 performed extremely well considering just how bad teh lighting and conditions got at the end. It was teeming with rain, and I could not fault the autofocus or its metering.
 Thank you again everyone

ALL images are considered when we choose our picture of ther week. Remember it's not about the best, or an image being a certian type - it's just one that, for whatever reason, grabbed the attention of the mod whose turn it is for POTW selection.
As for this one - it's a great choice for all the reasons Gary has touched on.

Congrats Matt, quite a worthy image.
Having shot Dirt Track / MX in the soaking wet, I can empathise with the level of dedication and skill to get a decent shot, let alone a PotW!
Not only do you have to contend with the issues Gary mentioned, you're also battling not getting your gear and self drenched Keep it up!

Great image Matty and well chosen Gary.
The reason this one was late is cos it was my turn to select POTW and I went away selfishly for a week with Bel to Port Douglas and forgot all about my POTW 'duties'.
As a result I will be posting this week's POTW when I get through the 1600 odd posts I've 'missed' whilst away.

Watch this space - well kind of.
