 Rats! Since you've used my suggestion for the name of this event, I suppose I'll have to participate now     Should there be a leeway of, say, +/- 5 or 10 minutes each side of midday, just to allow a bit of time to capture a range of shots?

 That wiull probably be because you're crossing domain boundaries. The links I gave were to the .com domain; I'll bet that you use the .net domain, and therefore using the provided link caused you to be in a logged-out state at the target link.
