This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.
Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.
Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.
Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

...I was still pretty pleased, not so much with the photo but more with my persistence.
We only had 2 nights before we had to move on and I really wanted at least one half way decent shot of the iconic image. Afternoon one was cloudy and overcast, we waited and waited but the sun slipped away behind the clouds and I didnt get my colour change. Evening two was an exact replica of the first but I set my tripod on the roof of the car and waited. Most of the crowd slunk back to the resort but I hung in there till the very last minute, just as the sun touched the horizon and for only a minute or less, it all came together. The clouds parted, the rock glowed and I got my shot.

wow, thats breathtaking. After looking for a while, I begin to wonder about PP? Did you mask layers, I can see something around the perimeter, but love it none the less.

It's a beautiful scene, but I think your post-processing (maybe just the sharpening) has let it down.
It really looks as though you've pasted that sky in behind the rock. It's the treatment you've given the edge of the rock that's problem.

Yeah I have over sharpened. I used a sharpening action (that I downloaded, not that I created) which has really made the rock stick out like a sore thumb. Even the original RAW image looks a bit "photoshop" due to the stark edge of the rock against the sky.
I will have another crack, this time without the PP action.
