Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Yep, here are some of mine. Plenty of other people with pretty much the same ideas as me, but it was a blast anyway... Even though I had to wake up obscenely early to get there in time for the launch.

Hell of a thing to shoot though - if you miss the shot, you won't get a second chance. Shame about all the people there, they really get in the way of my photos!! :D :D

Des,

Is that the new aircraft that the air force is going to be using to help defend us from invasion? :)

The way to avoid getting up early for these sorts of shoots is to avoid going to bed the night before.

A few of us discussed that very thing actually Gary. I can imagine a RAAF hot air balloon facing the incoming bombers on the last line of defence with an Air Force sergeant in the basket yelling "HALT!!!!!" into a megaphone. :)

Des
I was at the other end of the orange balloon shooting through the landing vent in the top (with permission)
boy it doesn't take much of a blast on the burner to start lifting the things
I was having a lot of trouble holding the camera steady with just the fan blowing in, so all I got was blurry shots before I just got the camera out in time. (deleted them they were that bad)

The megaphone would have flat batteries, of course.

One wonders who they'd use to supply the hot air for the balloon? Lord Downer? Heffo?

Ruddock?

:)
