The fact it was my turn again to choose POTW this week got me a little by surprise. It always seems to come around so quickly!!
However when I initially viewed the image I've now chosen, I subconsciously thought 'now that would make a great POTW image'. As I see macro shots and the brilliant quality of our 'regular' macro posters here, the appropriate lens lust looms over me. I am really enjoying viewing the local bugs of our backyards captured in their environments and as an area of photography i've not delved into, perhaps this is a reason why I am fascinated by these images and the people that photograph them so much.
Without further a-do though, this week I've chosen Slider's (Mark's) brilliant frog image. The first one from this original post is magically captured. A high quality image that you would expect to see on a renowned nature magazine such as National Geographic. The image really encapsulates the viewer and (for me) you can't not smile at the frog, who appears to be quite smug sitting there quite happily having his photo shoot!
 The original image:
Mark - you've shined through with this one, armed with your D70s,sigma lens with the SB800 and LS!
Congrats matey, an inspirational and amsusing image that many people have already both viewed and commented on so enthusiastically.
Chosing POTW is a privelige for me and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank EVERYONE that has submitted an image here over the last year. I look forward to another amazing year (and some exciting new ideas that are being tabled at the moment) full of images that inspire, motivate and encourage all to get out there, and take photos for critique and comments.
May you all have a very safe, happy and healthy Christmas, and a succesful, eventful and memorable 2007!!

This shot is miraculous, I loved it from the moment I saw it. Capturing that almost cartoonish pose and facial expression of the frog without making it look staged really makes this a stand-out.
One of the best POTWs I've seen, congratulations!

 Cheers
 Steffen.

Well done Mark and well chosen Geoff. A nice crisp, clean shot and the subtle colour changes make this a very worthy POTW. Bob.
I used to be indecisive..but now I'm not so sure.

Brilliant shot Mark - as were the others in this series (and just about everything else you've shot in the last 6 months too...!)
Nice pick Geoff - obviously you're a sucker for a good looking amphibian. (The frog, not Mark)

Wonderful image - no extraneous matter in the frame, deeply saturated colour, extremely photogenic subject.
Fully deserving PotW. Congrats Slider and good pick Geoff.

Wow, thanks Folks for the kind words and of course thanks Geoff for choosing my frog photo. It sure is a great feeling to get the POTW and as it's the last one before Christmas sort of makes it an early Chritsmas present for me.. Happy Days
