 Re: Today's Puzzle
Well my guess is that either your eyecup fell off in your bag, or while you were carrying it.

Timbo's picked the problem in one, and yes, we've tried two different batteries with no change.
Leon, we tried pumping it up but with no obvious benefits. Very strange .... g. Gary Stark Nikon, Canon, Bronica .... stuff The people who want English to be the official language of the United States are uncomfortable with their leaders being fluent in it - US Pres. Bartlet

Let's see who can come up with something that I've not yet thought of trying. Different battery ...different CF card ... .r&r lens ... different lens ... flash .. different shooting mode ... different wb/af/metering mode settings ... menu drill-downs ... g. Graham,
There's a thought. g. Gary Stark Nikon, Canon, Bronica .... stuff The people who want English to be the official language of the United States are uncomfortable with their leaders being fluent in it - US Pres. Bartlet
A few solid taps with a hammer ought to do something... not going to guarantee what it might do though... Seen this sort of problem before with LCDs... usually due to heat exposure etc... also could be due to charge connection problems to the panel.

Don't give him a reason. Lindy and I were quizzing him for a reason a few weeks ago for why he should get one and he couldn't come up with a reason aside for "I want it". Producer & Editor @ GadgetGuy.com.au Contributor for fine magazines such as PC Authority and Popular Science.

Is his birthday around the corner? a good explanation, pls. accept it and give him the approval. Birddog114

Has been sitting in the sun????? Excess heat is a good killer of LCD's.
or perhaps If the first hammer didn't work it might be worth trying a BIGGER one. Steve

 Steve,
A bigger hammer might be the answer. While it's not been out in the sun, I'm starting to think that it may be something like LCD failure; just a simple failure of that part of the circuit. I've seen that sort of thing before, but not usually after this short a period of time. g. But, isn't "I want it" a perfectly valid reason ?

I believe that to be the case. g. Gary Stark Nikon, Canon, Bronica .... stuff The people who want English to be the official language of the United States are uncomfortable with their leaders being fluent in it - US Pres. Bartlet
