A couple of rubbish shotsWent for a walk today with my lovely new 85mm (thank you very much birdy:D ) and decided to tackle a theme. That theme was rubbish - literally. Would appreciate C&C on these.

Matt,
I like the first one the best, the textures in the paint really stand out. I think the bottle is very bright though (or maybe it's my laptop monitor). I like the idea, not unlike the new 'clean up australia' campaign. Is the lens the 1.4 or 1.8? I got a 1.8 not that long ago from Birdy, haven't had much a chance to use it yet, although I have s job next week where I'll give it a run for a few full length portraits. You got anymore pics? 2x D700, 2x D2h, lenses, speedlights, studio, pelican cases, tripods, monopods, patridges, pear trees etc etc

Thanks for the comments Raskill
I do too, so I've had a quick play. Is that better do you think? The lens is the 1.8. I think it's a fantastic lens. I've not had a real chance to stretch its legs but its so sharp, I love it. Becoming my favourite. Matt
Thats heaps better, the paper texture and crinkles really stand out now, it looks great.
Just looking at the second image again and it grows on me eveytime I look at it. It has a grainy/grubby feel to it (I hope this is what you wanted ![]() 2x D700, 2x D2h, lenses, speedlights, studio, pelican cases, tripods, monopods, patridges, pear trees etc etc

that first one is great, the tone and colour is wonderful
did you post process it? the 85 1.8 is great, i used it once in melbourne very happy with the results I have the 85 f1.4 and it's darn sharp at f4.5
Matt I really like the first. Perhaps the second suffers by comparison being in such close proximity, but I really think that it is a rubbish shot

Matt like the others I love the first shot.
I think that the second one has too much in it. I think that the leaves are distracting from the broken glass. Maybe the glass also needed to be turned around a little to show more of the glass. Lovely work keep them coming. Mal
I've got a camera, it's black. I've got some lens, they are black as well.
Love the colours and the atmosphere of the first shot. I have no idea what you do in your processing, but you manage to set the mood right with the colour settings.
Hassy, Leica, Nikon, iPhone
Come follow the rabbit hole...
The first shot is great Matt, but the second shot in comparison is a little akward or composed a little too 'loosely' for my liking.
I love both pics. I think the first is more likely to be seen/do well in a photographic competition or magazine, but I really like the second shot too. I see the first shot as artistic and the second more photojournalistic (but still with an artistically sensitive treatment).
I wish I could do anything half as good. The lens certainly is sharp!
Thanks for the comments people.
I like both shots personally, and think that as a series they work. However, I prefer #1 - it's a lot cleaner, and less cluttered with the focal point a lot more distinct. I find the colours complimentary between the two shots as well. Many thanks for the critique guys. Matt
