 Morning all
My best friend is looking into getting a dSLR & is very interested in the D70s.
Looking around Camera Action, Vanbar etc (in Melbourne), it seems the D70s with 18-70DX Kit Lens is about $1850.
Does anyone know of any other reputable places in Australia where this kit might be cheaper ? I have strongly advised him to purchase the body in Australia - ie. Maxwell Stock, (not from eBay), for warranty purposes.
 All suggestions appreciated... DaveNikon D7000 | 18-105 VR Lens | Nikon 50 1.8G | Sigma 70-300 APO II Super Macro | Tokina 11-16 AT-X | Nikon SB-800 | Lowepro Mini Trekker AWII

thanks for the replies guys. I thought that members buying products from Birdy on behalf of non-members was frowned upon ?
I realise that I could purchase this for myself and then give it to my friend at cost price, however the generosity Birdy shares throughout this forum is amazing, and I have no ambition to flaunt the rules or take Birdy's willingness to help everyone, for granted.

 I will e-mail Birdy now...

Cheers BigPix...at this stage, it's just a query e-mail (not an e-mail to purchase). DaveNikon D7000 | 18-105 VR Lens | Nikon 50 1.8G | Sigma 70-300 APO II Super Macro | Tokina 11-16 AT-X | Nikon SB-800 | Lowepro Mini Trekker AWII

As you've already said, speak to Birddy and see what he can do. He can only say no and then you'll have to try other avenues (eg. vanbar etc). Darryl (aka Kipper)Nikon D200

Thanks Darryl. That is what I'm trying to do...but I sent an email to d70gear@d70users.com which was returned to me as "undelivereable". Hence my query on if the email address had changed (perhaps to something reflecting dslrusers.com ???) so I can resend the e-mail.DaveNikon D7000 | 18-105 VR Lens | Nikon 50 1.8G | Sigma 70-300 APO II Super Macro | Tokina 11-16 AT-X | Nikon SB-800 | Lowepro Mini Trekker AWII

I'm in the process of switching the remaining domains across from NoDaddy, and the new MX address doesn't appear in any of the DNS listings, for some reason. I've got this queried with Dreamhost and am awaiting their response.
In the interim, gear@redbacksweb.com redirects to the same locationg.Gary Stark

 Try camerafarm
http://www.camerafarm.com.au/camera/cus ... hp?cat=273 d70s kit $1,777
 d70s body only $1,337
they are genuine Maxwell stock though the catch is they might not have stock "More due mid November"
cheapest prices around but postage is a little hefty at $25

I spoke with Camerafarm early last week and put my name down on a pre-order list for a D70s kit. They said stock was due in mid-November but said that could be anywhere from one to three weeks away.
Ended up going with Camerastore.com.au at $1829 + $16 postage. The transaction took about three days all up. Maxwell warranty etc
