PotW November 8 2005

Each week, one of the moderators or administrators selects an image that, for whatever reason, catches their eye. Please feel free to add your comments here. Vigorous discussion of the images and techniques is welcome and encouraged. Criticism of any mod for their choice is not. Please note that this is "Picture of the Week"; do not confuse that with "best picture of the week", which is a concept of which we have no understanding.

A difficult choice this week, but the one I've selected is one that grabbed me a week ago when I first saw this image and its "grabbing" qualities.

Chris continually turns in some amazing work, and this image is yet another example in a long line of his exemplary work.

A great example of what having an eye for a shot is all about. You saw this, grabbed your camera and took the pic. Nature in action in lovely detail. Creepy too.

...and I note that the shot Gary has chosen for the PotW was taken with Sigma glass !!!

I would like to know what F stop this pic was taken at - the DOF is great.

I was wondering what life would be if it was'nt for NIKON cameras fitted with SIGMA lenses in the hands of TALENTED pom living in Australia chasing spiders...guess it would be pretty boring!! :D :D

My thanks to Gary for picking this shot - it was just fortuitous that I had the 105mm macro on the camera and the flash was on the SC29 lead.

This fella was in such a hurry to get his victim to wherever that I had just seconds to get the shot.

I used f/32 @ 1/60th sec plus flash and I had to PP from a virtually black underexposed shot to get the final result.

My thanks to the members who have made such nice comments and always remember to ”be ready” :wink:
