Face recognition is now becoming quite common on many digital cameras....even the more budget market ones. This technology is quite sophisticated but camera manufacturers include it because they think consumers want it. So how about... Horizon Recognition? The camera detects the horizon and automatically corrects any deviation from a perfectly horizontal horizon???? Would you see that as a useful feature...or something too hideous to contemplate? Of course, it could be disabled when required. And....have I just let the cat out of the bag about what's about to be offered by the next flood of P&S cameras?

We currently have cameras that have an artificial horizon...so i guess a horizon detector is taking it one step further.....

Matt I have the feeling that you may have stepped on a land mine and blown a few inches off your foot. That would account for the horizon problem and explain your paranoia at the same time

I seem to recall that a couple of cameras already include this feature. I'm thinking Sony NEX perhaps?

The forum automatically sizes images...why not straight 'em as well well at least Matt's images.. second thought ...maybe make 'em all crooked..that way Matt's will look straight

Maybe 'tilted' could be one of the challenges to level out this issue.
