				Hello
I have a friend who has an SB25 Nikon flash and an SC17 flash cable.
Would these two items be compatible with the D70. Will the TTL work?
Thanks

Spooky I suggest it will be a case of manual only. I also have a speedlight from this vintage and that is the case.

Spooky, I have this combination and used them this morning.
No TTL. you need ITTL capablility only available with latest Speedlights such as SB 600 and 800.
Only can be used manualy. Manual setting on camera - auto setting on Flash and various other combinations of manual. Even used manually I always brackett to eventually get the right exposure.

Okay, I thought the TTL might not work, as long as there is no chance of damaging the flash and/or camera by connecting them was my main concern.
Thanks

Old seventies flashes such as the Sunpacks and Vivitars etc used on the manual focus SLR's of that era generally had a higher spike voltage across the contacts. This was fine for 'mechanical' type contacts used then. I wouldn't try any of those old flashes on any camera that has electronic trip contacts. There should be a list of the recommended flash types within your documentation. Although there is not a list of the flash types that should not be used.
My SB 25 is difficult to remove from the D70s hotshoe and I worry about damaging the camera this way.
