Hi

When used without flash, i can set the exposure compensation and aperture with ease at the Aperture priority function. However, when i pop up the built in flash, thing goes wrong. I can set the aperture but i cant set the exposure compensation correctly- eg like if i want to overexpose it, the exposure meter reading just go the other way and the shuttle speed just wont listen to your dial. what is wrong?

With flash, you're setting exposure for use with the flash.

In A mode, your shutter speed will be locked to 1/60, or whatever setting you have in place through the menu options.

This would be a good time to RTFM abd learn about flash synch speed and FEC functionality.

Steven: the best option is to shoot in manual mode. You can then control the amount of natural light with a combination of aperture, ISO and shutter speed, then use the flash to make up the rest. This way you can balance the natural light and the light from the flash however you want.

thanks a lot for the advice, for a while, i thought my camera needed servicing. but thanks for delighting me. Ya manual mode should be the answer.
