Just surfed and found this post by someone who has just got his D200 and immediately took an ISO 1600 shot to check noise looks pretty good but not the most ideal of conditions to really test noise levels but still promising. What do you think?

ISO 100 or 1600?

As somebody else pointed out, unless you take a 100% crop noise doesn't really show up when you sample down.

Marco - if you had noise at 100 iso you would probably have a faulty camera - unless it was a schoolyard full of kids

I apologise guys I meant 1600. At the moment I'm reading the ensuing battle as to whether NR was switched on or Off. Tried to edit error but couldn't will do shortly I hope

Yup... that's DPReview.

As long as you expose the shot correctly (and/or dont underexpose it), you shouldn't get alot of noise (even with the D70). You would expect the D200 would fair better though.

Perhaps this example is not the greatest to draw a conclusion from....IMHO

I read it few day ago, and just don't care much.

I've exposed for the subject using high ISO on overcast days (high key bg) and the noise in the dark subject is horrendous. Now I've seen other people expose using high ISO using Canon, which look like similar circumstances but they seem to have low noise.
