 After all, it has all the hallmarks of an H. It sports superfast processing and a low-res, large photo-site sensor. With "low-res" I'm referring to the only very slightly increased pixel density of the sensor (5MP vs 4MP of the D2H in the DX format).
 I'm sure there will be a D3X (or D3s) in due course, but for me as a D2H loving gearhead with no discernible photographic vision but a hell of a lot of technology appreciation the D3 sounds just about perfect.
 That said, I have to take my D2H for service, the AF is off...     Cheers

 Steffen - I have read somewhere in recent time, can not remember where   , that Nikon were moving away from x ie. D2x, and xs ie. D2xs, so the same may also apply to H.

 I think it's sort of like the D1, Steffen. They're introducing a new breed of camera and will start with the base mod el before they start adding letters.

 Yeah from all the PR stuff, the D3 is the new D1 as far as groundbreaking new platform to change the face of digitalphotography forevery (blah blah), hence the naming convention follows the original.

 Steffen, H isn't a sexy letter, X is. Don't you watch late night TV?
