I feel fortunate to be able to choose from the excellent images posted this week. This week I have chosen an image by Ozczecho (Mike). This is one of those quintessential Australian images, very fitting for an Australian based forum.

There are many things to like about this image, the great primary colours, the fact the two main focal point are placed in the rule of thirds (and I am no slavish fan of the 1/3rd rule), the bulldust on the road sign, even just the way it says Australia. I believe this is good enough to be a postcard, though possibly if I was going to do that I would have cleaned the sign and PP with the cloud in the lower left corner. I am quite a fan of "as shot".

If you look in Mike's thread 'Red Centre', you will see he also has a great image of a sand dune. Another classic aussie image was posted this week by Killakoala of the radio telescope at Parkes, very nice.

Beautiful image Mike and well spotted Glen. Makes me just want to go trekking in the outback to bask in those glorious hues.

Loved this when I saw it and it's a great one to revisit. As already said, qintessential Aussie image and beautifully framed. This is a great example for all of us of how important the elements in an image can be. This would be just another Uluru shot without the road sign (note for foreigners - Uluru is what used to be called Ayer's Rock :wink:

from a huge selection of great images.

I had a great time in the outback (my first time out past Dubbo

) so much so that I hope to do it soon again.

We hiked about 20km and covered about 1000km in about 4 days, so it was quite action packed.

I was also fortunate enough to be at the resort while they were having a photography exhibition of outback images. These images were taken by John Henshall. He is a great bloke and had quite a long chat with him. He was kind enough to share some knowledge with me - pity it was the last day

Yep, I agree with everyone. Simple...yes, but this is the essence of the shot. Although I'm sure plenty of thought & effort went into getting it right. You got it right! Technically perfect. Well done :!:
