This is my pond and it has about 20 tadpoles in it. They are very sweet little creatures.

Here's a couple of stars. In a few weeks they will be suckering all over my windows and croaking very loudly. I have no idea what kind of frogs they are. Little brown ones with a big voice.

Nice little pond. Do you get any problems with mozzies, or do the tadpoles eat them?

Oh wow... I want a frog pond! I would be terrified that I would end up breeding toads though... but I dont think that you have that problem down there do you?...

Rel may be able to ID them for you. What frogs do you get the most commonly around the house? They are probably responsible for the tadpoles. My guess would be either striped march frog, Limnodynastes peronii, or Peron's tree frog, Litoria peronii. These are both quite common around our area but most of my tadpoles are the latter.

Would also like a pond, but I would end up with cane toads. Heck, I see cane toads out in the Tanami Desert where ever there is water.

Great looking pond Matt, good luck with the tadpoles.
Tadpoles don't eat mosquitos as they are vegetarian until they change into frogs,
but they do like the occasional leaf of boiled lettuce.
If you want to keep a pond but avoid getting toads breeding in it, I've found that raising it up off the ground is pretty effective. Toads can climb and jump, but not very high.
My back yard pond is raised about 60cm off the ground and that seems to keep them out.
I keep native fish (the Pacific Blue Eye) in my pond as they eat the mosquito larvae but not the tadpoles. Goldfish are a No No as they will devour the tadpoles in no time.

Thanks Bluebell! I'm getting fairly atteched to these little critters. Toads are not a problem down this area....yet.

Virtually no maintenance. Scoop out and change about 15% of the water each week. I condition it with stuff from the pet shop to kill the chlorine. I feed them on goldfish flakes and they love it. After they have all left (hopped away) then I am going to sink the pot into the ground and make an extended shallow area next to it like a little swamp with plants and rocks and maybe a trickle fall.
I just can't get enough frogs legs!

Give me a yell if you would like some native water and/or bog plants for your pond Matt.
It is good to see them using your pond.

I'm with Andrew - either striped marsh (Limnodynastes peronii) or Peron's tree frog, (Litoria peronii).
Do you have any shots of the mouth parts when the taddies come up to the surface ??? A good shot of the mouth lets you know exactly what species you are looking at. The other way is the call of the adult....

They are really distinctive calls, so you should be able to distinguish what you have.
If the frogs are climbing the windows though - I'm going for the Peron's - striped marsh don't climb, a little, but not very far.
But see if you can get the photo of the mouth - frustrating, but when you get it, pretty cool

It looks like it's Perons tree frog. The sound recording is very accurate. I have about 80 taddies in the swimming pool and 20 in the rock pool. I guess many won't survive to adulthood but anyway...it should get interesting around here in a month or so. My Italian neighbour has a phobia about frogs so I guess no more tomatoes for me.
