We had a fantastic sunset on Sunday evening, so wanted to capture our jade plant with the sunset in the background - unfortunately I couldn't frame it as well as I wanted as I was otherwise surrounded by architecture.
C&C appreciated.

Good isolation of subject (jade) from the background but unfortunately the direct harsh flash somewhat detracts from the general mood. Perhaps toning the flash down with a diffuser may have helped..
Was your subject the sunset or the plant? if it was the sunset you could have gone for a silhoutte..?

Thanks Surenj,
The subject was the jade plant, but trying to get some dramatic sunset background going. The actual sunset wasn't as dark as it appears, but I wanted to underexpose the background a little with a fast shutter speed and use the flash to maintain exposure on the jade plant. I accept your comment about the harsh flash, however, the rapidly fading sunset didn't permit too much time to set things up better. From memory, I was using about -2 FEC with TTL BL on the flash.
Cheers
