Ahoy folks,
Just thought I'd post a few from the weekend racing. It was real good catching up with Jeff, good practice for the up coming motor festival.
This was my first chance to have then D2h and 120 - 300 trackside, which was a bit of a learning experience. The camera seems to produce warm images, which isn't to bad a thing. I guess I need to fine tune it.
Anywhoo, enough waffle.
Jamie Stauffer from inside turn two.
Again, from inside turn two. It's a great place as you can pan almost 180 degrees.
Now, I know I'm limited to 3 images, so please forgive this:
This was one of the sharper images I got from the weekend.
This is a 200% crop of the engine (it may be 300%, I don't recall now):
The lens and body make a great pairing. I just need to lift my game.
Not as many keepers as I would like, but, once again, technique rather than tools.
C&C asked for, appreciated and welcomed!

Good shots Alan
The tight crop just goes to show how good a set of oggy knobs are, hardly any damage to the engine casing. It shows how good the camera, lens and photog are as well.
The first two shots are good, but for some reason I find the background distracting and the perspective seems to be looking down on the bikes imho. Were these shot at the Creek? If so a good spot to shoot would be past the hill after turn three. Bike on the power front wheel lifting.
I enjoy seeing your work Alan, post some more.

Thanks folks.
The angle is actually looking slightly uphill Craig. The images are taken inside turn 2, as the bikes pan around. I know the spot your talking about, but to get an uphill shot, you'd have to be a bit close to the side of the circuit because of the lie of the land.
I had to make the shot of Stauffer B&W because of contrast probems. Just as I was taking this sequence, the sun came beaming through, leaving very harsh shadows. I thinkk the B&W looks okay though.

Yep the B&w looks good. I bet the blue bike looked good with the sun on it.

Going by those shots Alan I don't think you need too much practice.I'm not a fan of the black and white, but the others are great.Roll on the motor festival.

Thanks mate, yes, roll on the festival.
Can I ask what's wrong with the B&W? It's about the only way I could salvage that image. Is it just the whjole B&W thing, or something in particular. Curious only, as always, I respect your opinion.
I'm attempting to get more creative with my racing shots, so need pointers!

Mate its just the black and white thing,I very much like colour but its a good idea if it saves the image. Have you any leads on your crash series.

Yeah, the colour is definetly a winner, especially that bike in the sun, as Craig puts it.
Craig sent me an email address, so I've forwarded the link to the images. I guess we'll see.
Heres hoping anyway.
