QM2 Entering Harbour

Well... got to the Harbour Bridge in time to see it enter the harbour. As for the photos? Well... could have done better, to be honest. Spent most of my time fiddling between the fastest shutter speed possible to counter the vibrating bridge, and the ISO required to provide detail.

Still, no excuses, it was an amazing thing to see. I'll be living on caffeine til tonight....

Yawn... what time is it?

Image
Over-saturated, and sharpened... but hey, I didn't blow out almost any of the sky!

Image
And to think... I was worried about there not being enough light...

"I'm going to need a bigger boat"

C&C welcome.... any advice could be useful tonight! (Next time, among other things, I need to get to middle harbour to get closer, and also avoid shooting into the sun!)

Not a patch on the orignal posters efforts....but here are mine....A little bit of a different take on this huge block of floating flats (lol)

<see new thread for pics> BTW who's wise idea was it for it to enter the harbour thru the heads in DARKNESS? Hundreds of dissapointed punters at south head i can tell you. Me being one of them.

cheers

Those of you out to shoot the big boats might also want to look out for the James Craig which is returning from maintenance in Newcastle today (I know because my dad is sailing on it).

Not sure whether it will be possible to get them together in one shot, but that would make a nice contrast.

Cheers
Steffen.

I cant believe how little comments the first posters images got.....they are great photos...some of the best i have seen!!

Also should i have started my own thread? As i didnt mean to take the focus of the first poster. I thought this thread would be where everyone would post images?

Cheers

Sometimes it's better when we have separate threads started by different posters, but often, when there are major events like this, people also add their images to other threads, so you're cool.

I do especially like your second image, btw. The contrast between the size of Mary, and the flotilla of all of her tiny sheep surrounding her, makes this image for me.

And one other thing .... welcome to the forum!
