These were taken at Lake Wendouree in Ballarat (VIC), and as the sign says Swimming is not recommended.



And neither is anything else really. The next two were certainly not going anywhere in a hurry.





And these jetties are not getting too much use.


My camera and I should have been under water in this shot.

I like #2 and #3 best. It is really scary how dry it is around

These shots are all very good, but isn't it a sad reminder of how little water is around these days.

2nd one is great story telling. A lot to be told behind the picture!!

My only 'beef' is the colour and saturation of the sky in the last shot .... I guess metering for the ground has lead to the sky being blown, and the recovery in PS has made the sky purple ..

But a fantastic series of shots just the same

Thanks all to your comments. The building in the second photo is the Ballarat Sailing Club. It certainly is very dry at the moment.

It was a funny sensation walking on the dry lake, as the ground was quite spongey, and almost like you were sinking.

blacknstormy, thanks for the feedback. I looked at it too, and thought I had pushed the colours a bit. ... It was a very overcast day, and the raw was quite bleak with a very washed out sky. Just playing now, it seems taking the exposure down by .5 adds to the purple highlights around the clouds. I definitely need more practice in the PP department though.

Russell - Fantastic shots telling a really poignant story. The Begonia Princess looks a bit sad, looks like her Prince Charming is nowhere to be found.

Theres great meaning behind them and they really make you think.

Disturbing & powerful images, here's hoping this drought will end soon, very nice work.
It's raining in Sydney atm, gauge is showing 1/2", certainly need much more than that but we'll take every drop we can.
