found this fellow just outside my back door......... might have to move him........ while shooting the spider, he moved a little and I moved a lot, the heart is still pumping, as he is a little on the large size and I was only about 20 to 30 cm away. Kit lens with a hoya number 4 close up lens and on board flash.

Sorry Big Pix, I've looked at theses twice now I think, and well didn't really have much to say. Spiders I don't like much, but these shots I don't hate, but I don't really like either. They show a fair bit of detail of the hairy little bugger, but for some reason, perhaps the lighting, it looks soft or strangely focused, which detracts from the shot.

Craig......thanks for your comments..... but a quick lesson in photography, you cannot focus your on board flash, the light is not soft but direct, as you state, quote' They show a fair bit of detail of the hairy little bugger, I ask how can the shots look soft if they are showing a lot of detail, I am confused..........

Sorry, I wasn't very clear.

I was wondering if the lighting was contributing to the image quality.
The images look kind of soft or strangely focused, which I thought could of been due to the lighting ?

Am an I any clearer ?

Strewth, I can see why you backed-off more than the spider!

The dark background with just snippets of the web, makes it look even creepier...

Hi Big Pix,

I like the third one of these best. The composition is more pleasing and there's a better view of the hairy detail.

cheers
