I was just looking through some of my NZ pics from last year and stumbled across this one which I decided to play with. This involved some curves adjustment and the cloning out of a strategically placed seagull.

The picture was taken in Whakatane Harbour (north island) - on the way back from a visit to Mt White.

Geoff,
I love the silhouette but I think I'd try a number of different crops on this one. I think a close portrait or landscape crop may provide a more intimate rehendition.

nice idea but it doesnt exactly work for me.

The idea of a more intimate crop may be what I am wanting to see in this shot.

Great image, has a really symbolic feel, might be tempted to crop some from the right hand side and the top to avoid the "smack in the middle" layout type of thing tho... With that great seperation between subject and background sky, you could get some more mood in the sky using some curves on just the selected sky maybe?

Just got back from NZ myself, wow what a stunning place huh? I wanna go back!

barbie doll?
so you can't really get too close or you would spoil the silhouette.
