Hi Sheila,
I have absolutely loved your work so far (and have commented as much) but this one unfortunately doesn't do it for me. Like you said, highlights blown-out a bit, a bit too contrasty/shadowy and slightly soft. Would have been good with diffused lighting, but thats not always possible. Like what you were trying to achieve with 'pop out', though. Cheers Michael

I think the concept does work.
I believe that the blown highlights are what kills this shot. If the orchid wasnt brilliant white or the highlights weren't blown. worth continuing with! steve check out my image gallery @

Another suggestion on pop-outs is to add a drop shadow - this will make it pop in a more 3D way
