I love the second one, and I'm not usually one for floral pictures of any sort.

I will say that I think the first one suffers from too close cropping.
I keep wanting to see more of the flowers around that big red one with the nice reflection.

Mate, these are stunning... Yep the first one may need to be not so tightly cropped but that second one, wow....

Very creative, tasteful and nicely lighted(?), very very nice Kerry... Well done on these matey...

The first thing i said to myself when i saw the first image was, 'that's beautiful.' Unlike some of those before me, i like the first one. The reflection is great. Both are jsut about perfect images.

Absolutely glorious images Kerry. Both are exceptional in their composition and exposure which is perfect my friend. You are one with the D200 :wink:

Thanks for all the very kind comments. :D

Lighting was done with a triple-A battery, hand held penlight, used only to "paint" the subject in the frame.

The first shot doesn't contain any other flowers, because there were none there. 8) A wider view would have only shown black, the remainder of the leaves, thorny rose stalk, and rose petals.

That might look good, the flowers fading off essentially.

Thanks, Leigh. :-) If I can, I'll try to do some different stuff with that flower. The problem is that it is much larger than the typical rose, which means I need more space for my props. :?
