EOI - DSLRUsers version of Photovision

I don't know how many people are aware of the Photovision series - basically pick a moment in time (time/date) and everyone takes a photo at that time.
From series 3:
This time, fifty-three top photographers all over the world captured one moment of the world at the exact same moment on September 23...
I am proposing that many or all members of this great forum participate in our own Photovision.
The idea is:
1. We pick a date and time.
2. Everyone take a photo where they are at that time.
3. Everyone posts their photo on this site.
C&C not necessary as it is more a record of where we were and what we were doing at the one time.
Thoughts?
P

I like it. It'd be cool if I could rig it up to a Flash mechanism showing a map of Australia or the world and have the pic show up from that.
Then again, I'm lazy so who knows.

I think ANZAC day is a great idea - bear/bare in mind that the idea is that we choose a time, say 6pm and that is, say, AEST, so for people in Adelaide, that maybe 5:00pm, 1975 (just kidding), or whatever the equivalent time is. I could imagine there maybe a few drunken, 2-up photos involved.

How does that sound?

Sounds great, instead of the already overwhelmed google earth, why not use a simple map of Sydney/Australia and place those pointers in? I'm not sure how we can implement that, but should not be too hard.
Then when we have all that ready, put it on this site and let the world/country know about what we did. Its pointless to do something at this scale without letting others know

Sounds like a good idea. A weekend or Anzac day (or other public holiday) would be ideal as I, and I imagine others, may not be able to do it through the week due to work commitments etc.

Same time, different places. Sounds like a great idea for a flashsnap in time.
How about Easter Monday as another option. Maybe we could use 1st Saturday each month?

				Here is my suggestion:
Date: Anzac Day (gives us enough time to prepare but not too long that we lose interest).
Time: 12pm (allows WA members time to wake up!)
Due Date for posting photos: COB Thursday 26th April.
No of photos posted per member: 1 (so we don't clog the thread).
Consent/Dissent?

Make sure everybody checks their date/time on the camera so that you have it reset following daylight savings ending.

				Sorry, 12pm AEST.
Craig, it can be a photo of anything that takes your fancy, from a striking portrait, landscape to the gunk between your toes.

Whilst I have the utmost respect for ANZAC Day and what it represents, my initial idea was that this not be limited to photos relating to ANZAC Day but just a snapshot in time of whatever anyone is doing and wherever they maybe at that time. I am not sure if I have misconstrued your comment or not?

THIS IS A GREAT IDEA! AND WHY NOT GIVE IT AN ANZAC DAY THEME? IT COULD BE SOMETHING AS SIMPLE AS A POPPY NEXT TO AN OLD PHOTOGRAPH FOR THOSE WHO DON'T WANT TO GO OUT. (ooops. I'm shouting)

Matt, I personally don't have an issue with people taking ANZAC day themed photos, but my intention for suggesting this is that the theme is about capturing a moment in time, done by as many people in this community as want to participate. For some of us, it could mean having a beer in an RSL or it could be at the zoo. I would rather place no restrictions apart from those already mentioned (date/time/posting date/etc).
Happy to go with the majority, however

By 1000-1200 most of the ANZAC day stuff will be over, except for those of us involved with it. So I imagine that most people may be out and about anyway, somewhere.......
We all celebrate/commiserate ANZAC day differently, so that should show with the images too.
Maybe we could do this again sometime, perhaps NYE.

This is a great idea, and I agree that it should be a moment in time not necessarily related to Anzac Day (although that will widen the photographic possibilities).
How about "TimeSnap"?

				Timesnap sounds good to me.
And I think this should be a regular-ish event, held a few times each year.
I'm almost thinking perhaps a gallery for the images, Scott?
But here's the deal:
Timesnap #1 - Photos to be made on April 25, 2007, at Midday, AEST.
Due Date for posting photos: COB Thursday 26th April. (Maybe a bit longer ... this hasn't yet been explored)
One image only per person.
I'm starting a new thread, and adding this to the calendar.
