I think we are running out of possies on th eeastern suburbs, but there are still plenty on the north shore, depends on how far ya want to travel.

maybe avalon? actually, no scrap that one its only good at high tide.

What about Manly (Cabbage Tree Bay Rock pool and/or Little Manly Cove)? I've never been there?

Or even somewhere in the harbour (that can see the city or SHB or SOH or north or south head)?

Low tide will allow you to scramble around the rocks on the North Side of the headland to Canyon X.
Need to allow plenty of time though.
Failing that, the South side is good according to Cows who was there a week or 2 ago

Boys, Canyon X is very nice indeed. But I will not be scrambling down that rope (Have you seen the video?). I am in favour of walking up from Turimetta though. Unfortunately we will need to allow for plenty of time. Probably need to get there ready to go at 0500 or so...

seen the video and nope, I ain't doing that until I have done the recon in the day, howver I would be keen to do the long walk aroud - must keep a good eye out tho for the tide.

Just remember your torches. Preferably head lamps as you will be scrambling over rocks in the dark.

But I will not be scrambling down that rope (Have you seen the video?).

So what time and where exactly are we planning to meet - I'll try and encourage my daughter to come along again as well.

I do have to leave by about 7:30AM however which I'm guessing shouldn't be too much of a problem but no breaky afterwards for us

Ray, can you give an idea how long it took you guys to get around there?

I would suggest leaving a good 1/2 hr to get around to the location

sunrise is at 6:12am that means you would want to be at location by 5:45? which means meeting at the carpark by 5:15 at the latest. holy crap thats gonna be an early one...

low tide is at exactly 6am so its probably the best time to do this one.

We went round in daylight after a shoot on the headland but I didnt really take note of how long it took.
There is a couple of hairy bits on the way but I reckon you young blokes should be able to do it comfortably in 20 minutes tops

Just remember I'll probably have an 11 year old girl with me (and neither with rock hoppers, etc) so nothing too risky please

... and as Gerry knows I'm really all set now - I'm now the new proud owner of a Lee Filter Holder, 77mm wide angle adapter ring and a 0.9 hard Grad ND - just got them from Mediavision. Something for me to play with tomorrow (both with my 17-50 and handheld perhaps with my 8-16mm).

No we made it to the canyon - however the sky (nor the tides) didn't really play very nice. I would however like to go back there again sometime (with higher water and cloudy colourful skies) - I wouldn't mind more predawn (and even) light in the blowhole area itself either - wonder if you get that at certain times of the year or do you have to wait for a very cloudy morning with the light coming more from above?
